Thanks for the comment!  I could not agree more.  Innovation is about breaking barriers; this includes breaking the constraints associated with adopting “best practices” as well as industry and geographic centric perspectives.  

A colleague of mine recently questioned the importance of the capability/expertise of those permitted to participate in inventive pursuits.  

To what degree should this be a factor?  

I initially sided with allowing as many informed perspectives as possible.  I’m assuming though that those with the greatest persuasion will to have the greatest impact…but it requires a bit more thought.  

Thoughts anyone?</description>

					<description>This really clears up the notion of searching for best practices, an endless search at that.  If you extend your logic, maybe hospitals should be reaching out not only to other hospitals but to other industries - not for divergent best practices, but for divergent perspectives.
